Choose power for your outdoor setup
- Phones and tablets: compare capacity, connector type and supported charging output.
- Laptops: check the required USB-C PD wattage and voltage profiles against the individual product specifications.
- Water resistance: check the exact model’s rating and handling instructions. Close the port cover around water and dry connections before use.
- Wireless charging and light: check the product page for a wireless pad, flashlight and other features your setup needs.
Water resistance does not make every model suitable for submersion. Browse USB-C laptop power banks to compare charging options across the wider range.
Rugged Power Banks for Outdoor Use FAQs
Are Techsmarter rugged power banks waterproof?
Water protection varies by model. Check the exact IP rating and handling instructions. The rugged models discussed in our guides require their port covers to be properly closed around water; charging connections should be dry before use. Compare rugged power banks.
What is the difference between IP66 and IP67?
Both ratings identify a dust-tight enclosure. IP66 addresses powerful water jets; IP67 addresses temporary immersion under specified conditions. IP66 does not establish immersion protection, and IP67 does not automatically establish every water-jet rating. Follow the exact product instructions. Read our IP-rating guide.
Can I use the charging ports in the rain?
Keep the port cover closed around water and use the connections in a dry location after confirming they are dry. An open cover with a cable connected is not the same sealed configuration as a properly closed enclosure.
Which portable charger is suitable for camping or a jobsite?
Match the model to your equipment list, time between outlets and working conditions. A phone-focused kit may need less output than a laptop kit. Compare the exact protection rating, capacity and port specifications. Start with our camping guide or contractor charging checklist.
